Over the last 23 years, Family Promise of Memphis has helped over 500 formerly homeless families including 750 adults and 1300 children with 85% of those families remaining in stable housing. However, Family Promise is at a critical point in the life of their ministry.
Over the last several years, the number of hosting congregations have reduced, and they also recently lost a significant grant from the City of Memphis due to budget cuts. To address these concerns, Family Promise is suspending hosting families in order to focus on two priorities. The first is enlisting more hosting congregations and the second is raising funds to offset the lost financial support. They are also asking for our help. They need our prayers as they navigate this current challenge. They need your network to help spread the word and encourage your friends and neighbors to talk to their churches about becoming a hosting congregation. And they need your financial support.
If you would like to give, you can do so through Second Baptist, by mailing gifts directly to Family Promise of Memphis (200 E Parkway, Memphis, TN 38112 ), or here on their website. If you would like
information to share, Family Promise of Memphis flyers are available on the table outside the church office.
