The Grove Music Academy

The Grove Music Academy began in 1998 as a way for Second to offer quality musical training for the community.

The Grove Music Academy offers a strong and active piano program along with some of the finest strings teachers in the mid-south. We currently offer private and group lessons in strings, piano, organ, harp, and voice.

Lessons are offered to people of all ages interested in learning to play an instrument or improving their present level of competency.

Music for Little Mozarts and Keys for Kids
These programs offer appropriate piano instruction for four, five, and six year olds. Each series is designed to capture the young child’s curiosity and desire for learning to play the piano at an early age.

Music for Lifetime Wellness
This is a recreational musical experience designed specifically for older adults. Regardless of prior musical experience, adults learn to creatively express themselves in a fun, multi-faceted music-making activity. It’s never too late to have fun and enjoy playing the piano.

Music Therapy & Special Needs
We look forward to adding opportunities in these areas in our upcoming spring semester. Let us know if you are interested in getting involved.

If you come by the church, you may see one of our many musical events in progress. Along with offerings by the Second Baptist music ministry, The Grove Music Academy hosts strings concerts, piano recitals, and the Greater Memphis Music Teachers Association local auditions in the spring.

God has given us the beautiful and inspiring gift of music. May we worship and honor Him as we lift our voices and instruments to Him in praise and adoration.

For more information on the above programs or private instruction, please contact Julia C. Pilgrim, Director of the Grove Music Academy.
